The only way to learn how to speak perfect or better no matter what language you speak is to read and to write the more you do of both will help you to learn about the words and their meanings. Just because a word is big doesn't necessarily mean it is a better word than another of the same meaning but smaller. Yes using thesaurus is going to be a very big help in increasing your vocabulary skills. Learn the proper way to pronounce certain words as well as it's spelling and when ever you are speaking to someone always look them in the eyes and speak clearly, this is a sign of respect and signifies your up- bringing and or your educational level.
Remember reading and writing are the two most important things you can do to increase your vocabulary, and practicing pronunciation will help you to say the word clearer, speaking clearly and looking the other person in the eyes while speaking to them is a sign of respect, and by all means do not say um and then pause, um is the worst word anyone could ever use it is a sign of poor educational skills.
Take a class in Interpersonal Communication at the college level and that will help you greatly….
